Yes, Barbra Streisand sang it best, didn’t she? Maybe those words bring a tear to your eye as they do mine. Perhaps those tears are tinged with just a hint of regret that those memories will be lost when you are gone.
We all have them. Memories. We all have stories to tell. Most often they come to mind triggered by a song, a touch or a photograph. But, too many of them are lost to time.
Sitting around the Thanksgiving table someone will mention Uncle Harry’s dog Jasper who stole the turkey right off the table way back when. One of the younger kids will ask “what’s that all about?”
What happens when no one is left who can remember that story. Or the one about how cousin George stormed the beaches at Normandy bringing honor to the family name.
How about the grandfather who served in WWI in the Army who turned around and joined the Navy when he was discharged? His tales about getting gassed in France are epic. These stories and many, many more are what make us who we are.
There are tools available nowadays that will help us trace our ancestry. There’s even a television program that shows how celebrities do it. These are great things, but what about the humanity? What about the stories that touch each of us personally?
If you are one of those people who ever said, “there oughta be a way to track this stuff” then you’ll be glad to know that there is. And, you can learn to do it yourself! Not only that, but if you really enjoy the process it just might spark the idea of a new business for you.
So, how do you get started?
As it turns out, it’s really pretty simple. You are telling a story. But, this story isn’t fiction. It’s all about truth and personal history. To begin with you will probably be telling your own family stories as you learn them.
Here are three facts to consider:
The best place to begin is with the eldest family member.
Another consideration is a family member you don’t know well.
No one can manufacture truth out of thin air.

Memories. We all have them. Happy, sad and glad they all differ.
Ever thought about what would happen to all those family stories you have locked up in your head?
Sadly, most of us leave it to others and assume that our kids and their kids will remember them to pass along.
The unfortumate thing is that they won’t rememb
er them correctly if at all.
It’s no surprise that the thoughts of the past don’t even come to our attention until we have a few years under our belts.
That’s about the same time our own mortality begins to rear its ugly head.
Don’t leave your family stories to chance. Do something about remembering them for your children and
their children.

It is indeed my belief that mesothelioma is actually the most dangerous cancer. It contains unusual characteristics. The more I look at it a lot more I am sure it does not react like a true solid human cancer. When mesothelioma is often a rogue virus-like infection, then there is the prospects for developing a vaccine as well as offering vaccination to asbestos uncovered people who are vulnerable to high risk associated with developing foreseeable future asbestos related malignancies. Thanks for discussing your ideas about this important health issue.
